Cost, timeline, vetting, capability specs, FAST agreements and country-specific answers — for appointing board directors and advisors, and for hiring the fractional executives they hold to account.

General

What is AndAssociates.io?
AndAssociates.io is a platform for appointing and governing board directors and advisors across Africa — and for hiring, managing and paying the fractional C-suite executives who deliver against the board's plan. Companies start with oversight and add operators; directors, advisors and executives get well-scoped seats with transparent pay.
Why does the platform start with the board?
A board or advisory seat is the lowest-risk senior appointment a founder can make — a few hours a month, mostly equity, no operational commitment — and it's the seat that decides what the company hires next. Once oversight is right, fractional hires arrive with a mandate rather than a hunch.
What's the difference between a board director and a board advisor?
A director holds a formal seat: a vote, fiduciary duty and statutory disclosures, appointed by letter of appointment. An advisor brings challenge and access without fiduciary liability, usually on a FAST agreement blending a small retainer with vested equity.
How does appointing a board seat work?
You define each seat separately against a five-dimension capability spec — five open seats are five distinct briefs. We shortlist up to three vetted candidates per seat, you interview on a shared tracker, then appoint on-platform and run the seat in Govern.
How does hiring a fractional executive work?
You tell us the outcome you need, the days a week and the timeline. We hand-match two or three vetted operators who've done the work in Africa before. You interview on a four-dimension rubric, agree scope, sign on-platform, then manage and pay in one place.
How are directors, advisors and executives vetted?
Everyone on the platform is reviewed before going live: work history, references, real evidence of outcomes (STAR-format), and a live interview. Board and advisory candidates also complete a capability assessment and fiduciary disclosures. Only about a quarter of applicants are approved.
What does it cost?
Fractional engagements carry a flat 10% platform fee on the company side and 10% on the executive side. Board and advisory seats carry a one-off ₦100,000 placement fee per seat instead. There are no sign-up fees, listing fees or long-term commitments.
How quickly can I get matched?
Median time to shortlist is 48 hours. Most companies interview within a week and start an engagement within two weeks.
Which countries do you cover?
The executive base spans 22 countries across Africa, anchored in Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Ghana, Egypt, Morocco, Rwanda and Côte d'Ivoire. Executives frequently work regionally, not just in one country.
Do executives work remotely, hybrid or on-site?
All three. You set the expectation when you post the role; executives declare their working preference in their profile. Most fractional engagements are remote or hybrid.
How do payments work?
Contracts and invoices run on-platform. You pay one invoice per cycle; we handle the split — net salary to the executive, statutory taxes to the right authority, platform fees separately. Full audit trail included.
Can I hire on a trial basis?
Yes. Most engagements start with a defined first period — often 30 days — with a clear review point. You continue only if it's working.
Is my company's information kept private?
Yes. Only the executives you shortlist see your role details, and identity fields are protected at the database level. Executives only see your full company name after you've agreed to move forward.

Fractional CFO

How much does a fractional CFO cost in Africa?
Rates vary by market and scope. Most engagements on AndAssociates.io run between USD 3,000 and USD 12,000 per month for one to three days a week. You see the rate before you sign, and the platform handles contracts and pay.
How quickly can I get a fractional CFO?
Median time to shortlist on AndAssociates.io is 48 hours. Most companies interview two or three CFOs within a week and start the engagement within two weeks.
What's the difference between a fractional CFO and an outsourced accountant?
An outsourced accountant handles bookkeeping and compliance. A fractional CFO owns strategy — fundraising, board reporting, capital allocation and finance leadership. Many companies use both.
Can a fractional CFO help me raise capital?
Yes. A large share of CFO engagements on AndAssociates.io are fundraise-driven — building the model, preparing the data room, running investor Q&A and closing the round.

Fractional CTO

How much does a fractional CTO cost in Africa?
Most fractional CTO engagements on AndAssociates.io run between USD 4,000 and USD 15,000 per month depending on scope and time commitment.
Will a fractional CTO write code?
Sometimes, but that's not the point. A fractional CTO's job is leverage — architecture, hiring, unblocking the team and owning the technical story with investors and the board.
Can a fractional CTO replace hiring a full-time CTO?
For a while, yes. Many companies use a fractional CTO for 6–18 months while they find and onboard a full-time hire — or indefinitely if a fraction of a great CTO is more useful than all of an average one.

Fractional CMO

What does a fractional CMO actually do day to day?
Strategy, hiring, review, and unblocking. A fractional CMO sets the direction, coaches the team executing it, and reports on progress to the CEO and board — usually one to three days a week.
How is a fractional CMO different from an agency?
An agency executes work you brief in. A fractional CMO owns the strategy that produces the brief — and holds agencies accountable to it.

Fractional COO

When do I need a COO?
Usually when the company is scaling faster than the CEO can personally coordinate — typically 25+ people, multiple functions and a leadership team that isn't yet self-managing.

Fractional CHRO

Is a fractional CHRO the same as HR?
No. HR handles compliance and admin. A fractional CHRO owns the people strategy — culture, comp, leadership development and org design.

Fractional CRO

How is a fractional CRO different from a VP Sales?
A VP Sales runs the sales team. A CRO owns all of revenue — sales, pricing, partnerships and revenue operations — and reports on the whole picture.

Can I pay in naira?
Yes. The platform supports NGN and USD payments; you and the executive agree on the currency before signing. Every payslip shows the FX rate used.
How does statutory tax work for a fractional engagement in Nigeria?
The platform withholds and remits statutory taxes (PAYE, WHT where relevant) centrally, and issues receipts to both parties. Your finance team gets one clean line item per cycle.
Can a fractional CFO help me raise Series A or Series B in Nigeria?
Yes — this is one of the most common Nigeria engagements. Executives on the platform have led model-building, data-room prep and investor Q&A for CBN-regulated and unregulated raises across Naija and pan-African funds.
